I have a model 42, 3” full choke vented rib that I have never shot before. As I tried to load shells into the tube they will not stay in tube no matter what I do. Can anyone help?

When loading the magazine, you must make sure the carrier drops completely down and in place to block the shell from coming back out.  I had the same problem, but with a little practice you’ll get the hang of it.  Hope this works.  RDB

On the early 42’s the bottom of the carrier is smooth so you have to use your index finger to hold the shell or shells in place with one hand and feed the remaining with the other hand. (my way) on the later ones Winchester punched a small stop on the bottom of the carrier to help with the cumbersome loading. The shell rim will catch it and stay in place as you push the next one forward.

Hope this helps,

Erin
