Bert,

I ran across a model 97 two barrel set SN 904726, where one barrel is 20″ can’t remember what choke, and the other is 28″. Serial numbers match. The set is in excellent condition, sorry I didn’t get pictures.  Is it rare to find a model 97 two barrel set? Especially if the one barrel in 20″? Is there much of a premium for the two barrel sets?

Thanks,

Al

Al,

Winchester Model 1897/97 2-barrels sets are not rare. Thus far, I have surveyed nearly (50) 2-barrel sets.

The 20-inch barrel is more than likely a CYL bore (Riot Gun) configuration, and the 28-inch barrel is most likely a FULL or MOD choke. One thing to look at is the factory roll markings on both barrels… they should be identical except for the choke marking.

Yes, there is a very good premium for a factory original 2-barrel set… approximately 70%.

If you can, please send me a link to where this gun is listed.

Bert,

It’s at a gun shop I visited last week in central PA. I can contact the owner to see if he can send me pictures.

Thanks,

Al
