Manufactured in 1916. Remeasure the barrel length. With the bolt closed stick something down the barrel. Some of the barrel is in the receiver. Next look for the choke markings on the barrel. If the barrel has been cut you now have a cylinder bore. If a cylinder bore slugs will be no problem.

The serial tells me that it is a Model “1912” versus a Model “12”, and that it was manufactured in March 1916. It should have a “NICKEL STEEL” marked barrel. If it is a 20-ga it was manufactured with a 2 ½” maximum chamber length, or if it is a 16-ga, it h a 2 9/16″ chamber length. Winchester did not standard the 2 ¾” chamber length for the 20 and 16 gauge guns until 1926.
