Found a 42 up for auction with Cutts and vent rib. How does one determine whether the cutts and the rib are factory or not. Whether the rib is A Simmons or a Winchester

In regards to the Cutts Compensator, if it was factory installed, there will not be a choke marking on the barrel. If the barrel is marked "FULL", "MOD", etc., the Cutts was not factory installed.

As for the Vent Rib, look for an offset Winchester proof mark on the left side of the barrel. If the proof mark is not present, it was covered up when the rib was installed after the fact.

Simmons marked their Ventilate Ribs on the left side of the upper rail.
