I have an old Winchester 1897 with a 20″ barrel, there’s nothing but the number 12 and nothing marking whether it is cyl,mod or full, it’s serial number 34749 and basically in the raw with very little if any bluing left but a light patina. It’s a solid frame and know the forearm is wrong as its smooth vs the cob type, the buttstock has a metal buttplate. Just looking for more information of what I may or may not have and if it’s worth fixing as its pretty clunky to operate, I let an SASS shooter use it in one of their events and it worked as designed but nothing like his China clone does. Will try to figure out how to post a picture, thanks. Hokie

I suspect that the barrel is not original to the gun.  Can you post clear pictures of the factory roll markings on the barrel?  Also a picture of the marking on the slide bar.
