As mentioned in the ‘What’s New’ section of this forum, I just acquired a special order Model 1894 shipped in 1905.

Kirk

I bet you’re like a kid a Christmas today. Looks like you have a really great 1894. Nice shooting.

Tang sights sure do help too, don’t they? That one is in really good shape. I like the flex joint on the Marble sights quite a bit. Works good for throwing the snow out of the aperture when I’m hunting.

Brad

I also really like the vertical locking ring on the Marbles.

I agree with that too. Maybe the Marble design was a little more for rugged use. I’ve been collecting the earlier Marble sights for a little while. These four are Marble Safety Axe marked sights for the 1894 and 1899 Savage smokeless calibers, two with an earlier "button" lock and two with the later lock. Now I need to find the same for the 38-55 and 32-40 calibers! Maybe it’s a regional interest thing for me since I live fairly close to the UP. I also just found the Marble’s Woodcraft I’ve been looking for, so I guess it’s getting addictive.

Sorry about the hijack.
