Up until recent times, $30 off for a box of .30-30 should mean they just give you the ammunition plus $10 to $15 cash. That’s called history now.

Apparently, this is actually some sort of super sale. They state their sale price is $139.95 but they have reduced their sale price to $119.95. However, they specify the, “retail price” of the ammunition is $149.95. Just where do they derive this, “retail price”? Hornady manufacturer suggested retail?
Of one aspect I am confident, no one is purchasing this ammunition and scalping it.

Hornady doesn’t want their customers to know! Here’s everything about it EXCEPT the MSRP. Strongly suggests that Hornady is in on the ripoff, or at the very least, condones it.

Steve, there is no Hornady recommended retail price. Somewhere there is a price that the dealers have to pay when buying directly from Hornady.
Bottom line is that the seller is another rip off artist.

Yes, of course, but that doesn’t mean there’s no MSRP. Have you ever heard of any manufactured product that does not have a MSRP? Often, esp. with guns, it’s higher than the average retail price, in order to allow sellers to claim they’re giving the customer a discount.
Any manufacturer who continues distributing their product to retailers known to be engaging in profiteering is complicit in this dirty racket.

In most cases the retailer buys from a distributor and the distributor buys from the manufacturer. For some items I can buy from a distributor and for those items the price has changed little. Winchester recently announced a price increase for ammunition but it’s nothing like the increases we’re seeing from the retailers. In defense of the retailers (and yes, it’s difficult) if ExAmmo were to sell that box of ammo for $24.95 somebody would buy all they had and sell it for $99.95 or more.
