I just purchased a model 94 WCF 30. It has some special characteristics. I have tried to do some research and think it has had a barrel replacement at some point. Any information about the riffle would be greatly appreciated. I guess I just want to know how much is original to the receiver and what has been replaced/added to the rifle. Your receiver dates to 1906.  It has been reblued.  The barrel has been replaced.  The stock has been replaced.  The white spacer is incorrect for a Winchester and makes it look like a Marlin.

What did you pay for this carbine?

No, you did not pay too much.  It is easily worth $500 as “shooter’ grade rifle.

That stated, almost none of it is factory original.  Originally, it was a Model 1894 Sporting “Rifle” (not a Carbine).  The entire front end of the gun consist of replacement parts, and the butt stock, butt plate, pistol grip cap & screw are also not original.  The only original part is the serial number receiver frame, and it has been reblued.

It might be a small point given the overall lack of originality but that white spacer in the grip cap really spoils it for me.  As small as it is, it creates a whole different visual experience for me – it’s all I see!
