Sorry if this has been asked before but the system would not let me do a search on “Winchester 75” it didn’t like that 75 was only two “letters”.

Can someone tell me what type of front sights would have come on a 1938 Winchester 75 Target Rifles?

Thanks in advance! Bill

Bill, I’m no 75 expert, but my 1939 Winchester parts book shows the following:

Vaver 1175 front used with Vaver 3875 Receiver sight

Lyman 77 front used with Lyman 58E Receiver sight

Redfield 63 front used with Redfield 75HW Receiver sight.

There is no listing for the 75 in the 1938 parts book.

More than likely a Winchester stamped steel M99-A. That’s what is on my #282.   Big Larry

Steve, Thank you! I googled the Redfield 63 and that looks like the one. the screw on the cover is missing on my friends 75 and I have been looking for a replacement for him.

Thank you again!  Bill

I have a Winchester 75 target with a 3 digit serial no. made in 1938.  It has a rear sight marked Redfield and a hooded front sight with an aperture inserted.  No markings on the front sight.  Is it possible these are the original sights?

Hi Greg,

Yes, it is possible.  The 75 Target was initially offered with the Redfield 75HW rear receiver sight and Redfield 63 front globe sight.  The pre-WWII catalog number for that rifle/sight combination was G7547R.

A few pictures would help us confirm for sure.
