Hello all. Alan Dale here and I am a “newbie”. Just joined on Dec 10th of this year. So please be patient with me until I learn the “ropes” of how things work. I do not know if this has been discussed, in great detail, prior to this; and, if it has will you please direct me to that discussion? I am trying to gain as much information on Winchester Model 52 Sporters as I can. I do have HOUSE’S book on 52s. However, one thing that I am most interested in learning is the methods that Winchester used to blue the BARRELS of these Sporters. I have been told that ALL the Sporter barrels ( throughout production ) were “rust blued” with the muzzle remaining in the “white”. Is this true? In addition, how were the remaining metal pieces blued throughout production? I have been told that other processes have been used for those metal pieces. Is that true? Thank you for allowing me to ask these questions; and, I will appreciate any and all information that you may have. Have a great and Happy New Year.

“Throughout production” covers a LOT of territory, but here’s some good background info.:
