Does anybody have any knowledge about a Model 1894 trap door butt plate? Rarity; time period; etc.Thank You
I currently have (21) of them documented in my research survey. Half of them are on standard Sporting rifles manufactured in 1926 & 1927. Those found prior to 1926 were special order. Beginning in May 1926, Winchester manufactured a couple of small batches of them using surplus Model 1873 Trap Door rifle butt plates. I estimate that Winchester manufactured approximately 500 – 600 Model 1894s with a Trap Door butt plate.
