I just got my hands on a Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine. The serial number is 125520. According to the person I got it from it has been refurbished. This does appear to be the case. My question is, how much did this hurt the value? I’m not looking to sell it as I love these rifles, just curious. I’m new to this forum and not sure how to add pictures. I would appreciate any help.
Depending on the quality of the refinish work, it is somewhere between a minimum of a 50% value deduction all the way down to a 100% value deduction. The serious collectors will not want it at any price. Believe it or not, it most likely would have had more value if it had been left alone, as there are some that like the looks of an old well worn Winchester.

No, I just signed up and paid online earlier today.
OK, you should see a package in the mail by the end of the week. When it arrives, send me a PM with your membership number so that I can find it in the system and change the Permission levels accordingly. In the meantime, you can send the pictures to me at – [email protected]
