I just bought a Winchester 94 XRT 30-30 lever action. I’ve looked everywhere and cannot find anything conclusive about when it was made. The serial no.is 4809545. I’ve looked on Winchsterguns.com couldn’t even find it there. At their website they suggested I try Cody Firearms Museum and I had no luck there either. Also I can find no reference to or about the Winchester 94 XRT which is what is written on my rifle. Only Winchester 94’s without the XRT. Can anyone help ?

I have another question to ask. There seems to be a lot of wiggle/slack in my lever when its open. This cant be normal. Can It be fixed without disassembling the gun. ?
Actually, it is normal for the Post-1963 production Model 94s… and that is one of the many reasons they were not well received by the American shooting public.

Yeah that is a bummer. But I Love it anyway. This is my first lever Winchester lever action. I have wanted one all my life. I’m 53 years old so I grew up on John Wayne movies, the Rifle Man t.v. show. I always told myself I was gonna have one some day. And by gosh I finally do. But I don’t expect I’ll Be doing that spin move though. LOL!
