I noticed in some forum conversations interest in the Winchester Hotchkiss. I found information as rare as the first gen carbine, until I came upon Herbert G. Houze book: “Winchester, Bolt Action Military & Sporting Rifles 1877 to 1937. This book has the most complete information on the Hotchkiss I have found. I am fortunate to have a commercial, albeit likely a military unmarked version of the saddle ring carbine. I don’t dare fire it for cracking the stock as is typical and hence 3 generations.
