I am needing information on a butt stock that I removed from an 1894 Winchester 30 WCF rifle brought into my shop. The butt stock did not fit the gun correctly but close. After examining the stock I noticed the trap door on the back fully intact and functionable. The top tang length is 4″. Bottom tang length is 5 5/8″. No other markings on the stock. Compared to a 1873 and this stock was 1″ longer than the 1873. Bottom tang on the 73 was also an inch shorter. Any ideas, please let me know, thanks Joe
Hello Joe,
Can you send me clear pictures of the subject butt stock and butt plate? Winchester did manufacture (on special order) trap door butt stocks for the Model 1894, but they are relatively uncommon.
