I have a friend that wants to sell me his Browning made Winchester 1892 in .45LC.
It has the etched wildlife scenes on the blued receiver, and has maybe a box of shells through it.
I’d like to buy the rifle for a hunt I have coming up, but want to offer him a fair price. After looking
at Bert’s book and others I was thinking of offering him 7-800 dollars. This is a late model rifle probably
from the late 1990’s or early 2000’s. He is a good friend, so I want to be fair. Any advise?
I haven’t ever seen a Browning 92 in 45 LC but I have seen a newer Winchester model 1892 in 45 LC with an engraved receiver. I think it has an antelope on one side and deer on the other but I may be misremembering. I recall that the sellers were asking $1250 or so for a new gun in the box. If we’re talking about the same gun, I’d think a fired one without the box would probably be about half that.
