To All;
Any of you folks interested in purchasing an 1873 Winchester 32-20 “Smoothbore” for your collection? A “Smoothbore” that’s guaranteed to letter as such. All offers considered from $1000.00 to $1,000,000,000,000.00. This rifle is one of two known in this caliber, and is mentioned in J. Gordens books on the Model 1873 Winchester. It will go to the highest offered realistic price for a weapon of this rarity. Again I must mention this 32-20WCF “Smoothbore” is GUARANTEED to letter. It has been offered before, but the time has now come for me to give someone else the chance to own it. I offer it for sale now mainly out of curiosity, this to find out what a rare Winchester’s real value is to the “Winchester Collector” in todays market. Please respond if interested via my PM on or before September 30, 2016. After that date it will no longer be for sale.

I’ll be rooting for you to win that Multi Zillion Dollar “Powerball” that’s bound to come up before the deadline of 9/30. We, I’m sure can come up with a mutually agreeable price for the Not quite the rarest ’73, but certainly a rare Smoothbore Winchester none the less, once you have the 30 or 40 Zillion dollars in your hands, if that’s what it would take for you to purchase a rare Winchester 1873. In the mean time I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you hold the winning ticket, even though you never buy them. Ha,Ha,Ha.

It seems like you are more interested in an “appraisal” with sale to the individual with the highest offer if it is high enough for your liking. It seems what you really are in need of is an auction to sell this at with a reserve price set on this firearm.
Also, VERY difficult to assess and/or make an offer without good quality photographs.
Mr.CVS;
Over the years I’ve had this Smoothbore appraised. It’s been shown at the WACA Portland, Me. show featuring the 1873’s. I have had numerous offers over the years, the highest one from the person that I bought it from 6 months after I bought it. I turned his offer of $8000.00 down 26 years ago, as I wanted it for my own collection of ’73’s at the time. I have had many, many, many “Tire Kickers” most with empty pockets, look, fondel, and kiss it. I have heard just about every excuse from “If Only” to “Would you consider a lower price, as my dog and kids haven’t eaten in the last six weeks?”. (fill in the amount) I’ve sent out Photos, copies of Cody Letters authenticating the piece. You name it I’ve done it. NO MORE! Here it is. I guarantee it will letter as being a Winchester “Smoothbore” rifle in the rare (even for the rare Smoothbore) caliber of 32-20 WCF “Shot Cartridge”.
J. Gorden in his extensive research on the Model 1873 only found 2 listed in the Winchester ledger books in this caliber. Frankly mrcvs, I really don’t give a hoot if I sell it or not, hence the 9/30 deadline for its sale. What I am interested in finding out, that when a truly rare piece does comes up, who’s ready to consider dipping into their pockets in order to own it. You yourself have said many times on this forum that you collect only the highest of the high condition Winchesters (Willingly paying an extreamly high price for your treasures, I’m sure) or a cheap “Super Deal” from some poor needy soul. This Winchester is NOT in the “Highest of High” condition that you always require, nor am I a “Poor Needy Soul”. That said I really don’t think this rare firearm is for you. However mrcvs, thank you for your as usual thoughtful commentary.

Where I come from we EAT mules, not ride em. Have you ever et “Mule Cordon Bleu”? A might fancy, but dern good. Last time I used the “Smoothbore” was tother day. I filled it up with carpet tacks and blasted a “Bushwaker” in the rear. He was a might tore up, an won’t be a comin round these parts no more I reckon. Got to sign off now an go skin me a coyote I got last evenin. Take care Texian.

To All;
These days a little humor is definitely in order, don’t you agree? What will happen with our Winchesters after January, who knows? However I for one would like a few laughs until then. On this sad day, 9/11, we should all pause for a moment and try to figure just where our country is headed. God bless America, because if he doesn’t we’re all up the creek.
