I just purchased a 1985 Winchester , it was built in 1925 , s/n 414154 , 30 army (30-40 Kraig ), it has a 22″ round barrel , Lyman rear sight and globe front . My question is the original configuration of this rifle, I am going to replace the stocks but I don’t know what they should be ? I didn’t mention it also has a saddle ring and 85-90% blue . Thank you for your help .
Is it a 1895? You need to post some pictures.

Tom, be slow to replace anything on your 1895 until our members with expertise have seen your photos. I’m sure you have a reason for wanting to replace the wood but, if the metal retains the amount of blue finish you say and the finish is factory original, it would be unusual to see the wood so deteriorated or damaged it would necessitate replacing rather than repairing.
Replacing original stocks can destroy any collector value of the gun. Wait until you’ve put photos up and have gotten some learned opinions. This forum is the right place to get good advice from knowledgeable experts in the field, free. All it takes is some photography. Not just one or two dark blurry images. As many clear, bright, in-focus images of the whole gun and then closeups of all the rollmarks and any flaws or damage. The better the photography, the more accurate the advice.
And welcome to the Forum. Were glad to see you here.
