Hello Roger,

Winchester did not manufacture the Model 64 in the 218 Bee caliber.   Instead, it was the Model 65.

While the barrels were all CMS (Proof Steel) in the year 1942, the receiver frames were not (at least not for the Model 65). There should be several stamped markings on the bottom of the barrel… what are they?  Can you provide a picture of the markings?

The serial number on your Winchester will enable me to pin down a more precise date of manufacture.

Winchester Proof Steel is a Winchester proprietary Chrome Moly alloy that is very close to resulphurized 4142.
