OfflineHi all, this is my first post, so here goes.
I recently acquired a Winchester Model 1895 in .303 British, manufactured in 1902. It has a 24″ round barrel with a crowned muzzle. From what I understand, this configuration could indicate either a special-order rifle or a barrel that was cut down at some point.
Does anyone know if Winchester offered crowned muzzles on special-order Model 1895s, or would this more likely suggest a later modification? For comparison, my Winchester 1895 takedown in .405 does not have a crowned muzzle.
Any insight would be appreciated.
