Winchester 1895 flat side first pattern

Recently acquired a Winchester 1895 flat side first pattern in 38-72. Gun was manufactured in 1897 it came with the Cody letter. However every thing I find on this model says it should have a rounded top mine doesn’t it is flat. It has the octagon barrel. Any information on the first pattern 1895 would be appreciated
