I have a winchester 1892 that I am cleaning up and I’m curious about the markings on the underside of the barrel underneath the forend. They go as follows:
121916, a space, “H” stamped, space, an “I” inside a circle, space, “I” inside triangle “X” and another “I” inside triangle, space, 32 W.C.F., space, “3”, space, a dot and “J”
Any information would be appreciated. I have Arthur Pirkle’s 1892 book, however it does not mention anything about markings on bottom of barrel. Thank you.
Hello,
Please send me some photos to [email protected] What is the serial number of your rifle on the bottom of the receiver? I will be glad to help you and will enter your rifle into a research survey I am working on. Most of the marks are inspectors stamps which were applied during production and assembly of the rifle.
