There is something wrong with the website.  The pictures displayed properly when I first posted them, but now they will not.

Thanks. I’ll wait for them to fix it. Is the platinum insert on the front edge?

I emailed them to you.  Yes, it is on the front face of the blade (so that it is visible when you are sighting it).

How about the base? Are they ever squared? I don’t see a platinum insert on Wincachers. Thanks to both of you. This is very helpful.

Look closely at the high point of the blade in my picture and you will see a very fine silver line starting at the apex and running to the left (in the photo) and then down and out of view.

Thank you Bert:

I’m thinking that this will take some looking to find.

There used to be a guy that advertised to Shotgun News, Sold nothing but antique sights and telescope, but I can’t remember his name.

Thanks to you too Wincacher.

I suspect that the person you are thinking of was Garry Fellers.  Original Rocky Mountain Sporting sights routinely show up for sale on ebay.  keeping checking on a frequent basis, and one will show up before too long.

Here’s one that has been filed down:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marlin-or-Winchester-Rocky-Mountain-Front-Sight-1873-1892-1886-1893-1894-RARE-/382127316262?hash=item58f8901d26:g:TqAAAOSwRXRZQKJj

I think that one has a brass blade, though it looks like steel. I’m going to have to be patient and look.

Yep. Gary Fellers

Didn’t Gary “leave the range”?  He has an East-Coast counterpart whose name momentarily escapes me.

It looks like a correct Rocky Mountain front sight.
