The link above is for a factory drawing for the “Model 75” which is the forerunner of the model 1876.
This is as close to a factory blueprint of the Model 76 I’ve come across.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Bob beat me to the punch! When you look at the drawing Bob posted and that I posted. The widths measure .34 and .35. So there is that little tidbit for you.

Maverick

I think someone with a spring and a dial caliper can fill in the blanks so you ca make one.

Then there is this drawing showing a width of .362″.
So best of luck to you in your reproduction efforts.

Keep in mind that the 75’s shells were 1/4 shorter than the 76 so it could change the length of the spring.

It also seems that the 75s were fairly well experimented with, as these drawings I believe are indicating at least 3 different versions thereof, if not more. Would need more research for sure. I’d have to re-read Herb’s 76 book, as he is the only source that I recall discusses this at any length. Along with a Model 1878.

The 73 springs are shorter than the 75 so I would guess the 76 is longer.

Yes the lever spring on the 73s are shorter. The 76 left side lever spring is longer than the right side. Bob the 75 blue print that Maverick posted the links are shorter than the 76s so 73,75,and 76 have different size toggle links i would bet the lever spring are different too. if someone could give me the total length of the left side lever spring would be great. unless you could part with one Lol.
If you have the receiver and lever installed you should be able to determine what length you need.

can’t under stand why thy didn’t put it on the blue print.
Because the drawing is actually a design drawing and not a true production type drawing. Or a drawing that would be used to mass produce parts. Necessarily, that is but could have been used as such!
I’ve got several design drawings of Winchester products and they don’t have a single dimension on them. But also they would’ve need it to have them for their own use. As they had the actual drawing and they were all drawn at FULL SCALE. So if they wanted a measurement, they simply took it from the drawing by measuring off the drawing.
There were no technical drawing standards in the U.S. before WWI or not until 1918 when ANSI was established. So this is why a lot of these old drawings don’t have title blocks or dimensions like modern drawings today have.
Sincerely,
Maverick
P.S. Technically these aren’t blueprints, they’re the original pencil and ink drawings. A blueprint is a form of a copy.
