Lauren,
Its a late 44 carbine that had the magazine tube shortened at one time. The front barrel band had been broken or cut and I see wrench marks on the barrel. The gun does not have any original finish left from what I see. The wood looks good but the stock does not have the normal comb and it looks longer so its been changed or possible a special order. The gun has value. I would check the records to see if it comes back with something unusual about the stock. How is the bore?

Honestly have no idea. Gun shop seemed pretty impressed with condition. They said the barrel was grooved/notched for an add-on of some sort and the original stock plate is in tact. If any additional pictures might help you determine anything else, let me know what you might wanna see. I’m a 33yr old girl that’s never even held a rifle so clueless is an understatement. Lol. Thx
The barrel that was grooved/notched at the front is where the magazine tube originally was attached. It also is missing the dust cover on top of the receiver. Monday I can check the serial number and see if the records shed any light on the stock. If that is a special order stock the gun is worth more but the shortened magazine and missing dust cover hurts the value. I would guess its worth $1200 – $1500

Cody came back as a plain 44 carbine. no mention of any special stock so I’m thinking that gun has a shotgun butt stock on it that was modified for the carbine butt plate. With that in mind you are at the low end of the estimate $1200. You have a mag tube issue, missing dust cover and wood that is not correct. If it had a great bore it would make someone a good shooter gun and would be worth more.
