Good morning,
Your rifle was manufactured during 1909. IT is common in this SN range for the upper tang to be marked with the very small “MOD 1892” across the tang just beneath the hammer. I do think that Winchester had an “Oops moment” realizing that the gun had NO model designation without it. What configuration is your rifle? Can you post or send me several images of it?
