I picked this up at the swap meet today, hoping it would fit my latest project. the wrist area is a bit narrow on a 1912 winchester 94 rifle. I need a buttplate but the contour ends with a curve on top. does this look like a factory stock? it’s also very light, a guy at the swap meet said maybe it’s gum wood? thanks. 20210404_093959.jpgImage Enlarger20210404_093925.jpgImage Enlarger

Looks like it had tacks in it. You need to show the inletting to see if its original wood or homemade.

It does not look like the typical 94 stock inletting I’ve seen.

I pulled the stock off my 1890 and the cuts (inletting?) is longer on the mystery stock. the wrist on the 1890 is also about 1.5 inches like the mystery stock. if I slide the stock on a 1894 rifle the tang sits above the wood and the lower tang sits below the wood. jim

It appears the toe is turned down in the first pic, early 86’s had that feature. Shot in the dark here…….
