The box types changed throughout the production run. It is not possible to determine if the boxed guns in the pictures you posted are original or not. The serial numbers on each gun would be a place to start, as it would tell us the production time period. Next, I would want to examine the end labels on each box.

Hi Bert,
The boxes are original with labels matching the serial number of the rifle. I was questioning how the inserts were positioned. The 1949 Winchester Model 94 #1617975 I purchased came from an owner who inherited the rifle from a family member who purchased it new. The rifle appears to have been put back in the box with the inserts incorrectly.
I am also questioning why some Model 94’s have a gloss finish on the stock and some do not. Mine does not. The photos are of poor quality and do not show the rifle in it’s preserved factory new state. Later I will be researching correct saddle rings. There are now AFTERMARKET saddle rings available.

This model 1894 made in 1895 has more of a gloss finish than my model 94. My model 94 and 64 have the same non gloss finish. The photo of my 94 is a bad photo and doesn’t show the finish accurately. Would this finish be stock on a 1894?
