In the December 9-11 auction, one seller has about 20 high condition restored Winchesters. These guns are clearly identified as professionally restored and listed over the three days. It will be interesting to see what is the buyers cut after fees.
RIA gets top dollar for guns. Do you think the seller will see more than the cost of the restoration? This will be interesting.
Looking at these guns thru RIA’s web site is very telling on what they look like. No wondering if they are restored, they tell you. T/R

I hope not, because it would encourage more restorations, very often done, I think, on nice collector guns that don’t need it. (Restoration so-called, though “re-manufactured” is more apt, when done to the level of Turnbull’s best work–very possibly the only part of such “restorations” made by Winchester is the rcvr!). The cost of restoring most antique & classic cars usually exceeds their re-sale value (of course there are exceptions, depending on the car & degree of work required).
