OfflineI would be very happy with that 1876. I would also like to see the RHS of the stock up close.
I have not got my books near me at the moment but would want to check my Yerout 1876 NWMP book.
When you get it, take close up of quailty pictures off the RHS of the stock and post them here.

Hi Chris,
I would be most appreciative if you were able to check your Yerout if #45417 were listed. If it were listed by serial number that would make a huge improvement on the value of the gun. TIA!

OfflineLewis Yearout published a listing of model 1876 carbines in control of H Division of the NWMP at a date that was indecipherable. Page 123 of his book on NWMP Carbines. This carbine is listed there. Carbine 45412 was found to have been issued to the Alberta Provincial Police. What it does not say is what was found on this carbine. I only scanned the book quickly however. With the nearby serial number having gone to the A. P. P., logic (which may have no bearing here) would be that 45417 went somewhere and the L.O.F. is as good as anyplace. But that is not a certainty. Tim

OfflineYour carbine was shipped from the factory on april 20th 1885 to order number 20202.
The LOF stamping is correct .
In August 1916 the Royal North west Mounted Police loaned 710 carbines to the Edmonton Battalion of reserve Militia -LOF Legion of frontiersmen.
In January of 1919 the Alberta provincial police purchased those 710 carbines for $1100
Not all the carbines purchased by the Alberta provincial police were stamped.
Your carbine is one of those.
Hope this helps.

Stavok ( James),
There you have it. You were definitely ripped off and this rifle isn’t worth it. However, since you know I too bought rifles in this auction I will just pick it up for you so you don’t lose more money on gas driving in to buy such a lousy rifle! 😀 I’m kidding of course as I think Jeremy confirmed you got a great deal on a great rifle! Congrats my friend!
