I saw this picture of a 38-55 muzzle on the net this morning along with other pictures of the gun for sale. I have never seen a muzzle look like this. I was thinking the barrel has been lined, but don’t think they look like this from what I’ve seen. One sees some of the weirdest things. Peter

I don’t see signs of lining from that picture. What I see is it has a good radius around the outside edge.

I honestly think it is an effect of the digital camera and the glare from the lighting. The outer barrel if lined would be paper thin near the muzzle end and net to impossible to have been bored that large for the entire length of the barrel.

I believe old guns is spot on, I checked dimensions once to possibly line a 92 chambered in 38-40. (round barrel) The liner was only .030″ smaller in diameter than the barrel diameter.
