Does anyone know when or at what serial number the VP was applied to the underside of a 1873 barrel ? I have a 1887 Model 73 SRC that is in the 240000 range with the VP. Gun appears to be original but Im not sure about the age of the barrel. Thanks
Cliff,
The “VP” (Violent Proof) marking predates the Model 1873, and was used throughout the entire production run.
