I am a military arms collector, and recently had a friend ask me to look into the value of a Winchester model 1873 that was given to him. By the serial number, it was manufactured in 1883. It’s intact with nice wood and patina metal finish. The bore is OK. It appears to function fine. Any ballpark estimate on the value?
Many thanks
Matt
Without pictures and knowing what the configuration and caliber is I can’t even guess.

Matt,
As Bob mentioned we will definitely need more information and several good detail photos in order to estimate the potential value. What shape is the barrel? What length is the barrel? Is there a ring on the left side of the receiver? Is the magazine full length? What caliber is the rifle? All of these points will change the possible value. Condition has the greatest influence.
