Would be a sad day if an original trapper were destroyed. Cry

I know many people would accuse me of hyperbole but I liken this, and past destruction of American heritage, to ISIS destroying antiquities.  The motivations may be different but the result is the same.  One man’s junk is another man’s treasure, art, heritage, history.  If anyone were to ask who get’s to decide what counts ($10.00 Saturday Night Special vs. anything else) I would simply say: ask those who care, ask the market.  But don’t ask some bureaucrat or disinterested party.  At the very least, store them away for the future to decide.  But to destroy them?  No.  That should be criminal…..

Sorry, end rant.

Yes, we condemn ISIS, while Confederate monuments all over this country are torn down or vandalized.

Though I support your right to opinions, Huck & Clarence, fundamentally disagree with your conclusions. I believe the first inquiry on many such thoughts is beginning with a view in the mirror. The problem often “…not in our stars but in ourselves.” Collectively a fundamental dichotomy between basic precepts of democracy based on informed voters against an ever geometrically technical world with fundamentally polarized society denied critical understanding requisite to informed ballot box decisions.
Too easy to lament & cast blame. Too difficult to acknowledge fundamental flaw in humans controlling our very society. Steven Hawkings foresaw a resulting expertise vacuum, roles aptly filled with computers. ‘Them’, controlling and eventually, inevitably, concluding the imperfection in systems of government, presence of humans on the planet! A plague to be rid of! Just now, we throw ever increasing laws in the pot, stir and sample the alchemy results. Soon toxic complexity leading to stagnation, counter to fundamental self-governance. The end.

All said with no happy prospects, to take leave of this Thread as presently well removed beyond seeming Winchester forum intent.
My respectful parting take
John

I understand the natural human proclivity to destroy and erase that which they are, or were, at war with.  I just don’t think we should be at war with guns.  I also know a false dichotomy when I see one.
