I’m looking to purchase my first “collector” grade rifle and thought it’d be fitting it was the classic Model 94 and after doing quite a bit of research the past few weeks and looking at too many guns to count I think I have landed on one I really want but my first hand knowledge of Winchesters is pretty limited. I’m definitely looking at a shooter and from what I believe is a reputable gun shop. I’m obviously skeptical on whether or not there has been any rebluing, bore condition, etc. and how much its likely worth.

It’s listed as a Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Win. 20″ barrel Made in 1949 in near excellent condition. I have looked up the serial number here and it does check out to be a 1949 serial #, I cant add any pictures but here is an imgur link with the images I have received, they did point out to me a scuff on the muzzle beforehand.

1949 .30-30 Model 94?

Hello Griffin,

That is a very nice (factory original) Model 94 Carbine, and it is definitely a collector grade gunCool.  As for the value, I routinely see Model 94 Carbines in that condition sell for $1,600 – $1,800.  What is the price tag on it?

It appears to be appropriately priced.

If you don’t buy it I’d be very interested…but I’d need to borrow about $1500. 😉 All kidding aside it presents as a very clean, honest gun. I prefer a touch of “been there, done that” but I know there are folks who take very good care of their firearms and this gun’s prior custodian was quite likely one who did so.
