A couple decades too early for Post-Its.
I was going to say they were a double note attempt by me (my address on them) to get the rifles shipped to me. Trouble is, the women were delivering the packages ten years before I was born. –I always miss out on the good finds!
Definite “security measure.” Those Post-Its appear to be extra tape, probably across the box bottoms and up the other side. The tape looks to have been snagged or cut on some boxes.
