on another thread they are talking about Ackley cartridges. i have not heard about them. would someone enlighten me about Ackley conversions. thanks

Basically, Ackley improved cartridges by blowing out the parent case shoulder to form a very short and sharply angled shoulder at the transition to the case neck. The result was a slightly larger case capacity, and improved burn characteristics of the gun powder.

"Handbook for Shooters and Reloaders" by P.O. Ackley is still a good read and advise you to pick up a copy.

The reloading data on powders are out of date but all the ballistics information is very interesting among the other stories contained in the books.
