Especially how the magazine is attached to the half octagon barrel.  Wanted to see what the experts think.

I would say it originally was a full mag and someone shortened it but didn’t know how so they used the mag tube hanger when they didn’t need to.

Barrel also looks as if it may have been turned on a lathe. But hard to tell from photos, need better resolution.

Don,

Somebody turned the barrel down to 1/2 octagon (which eliminated the original magazine tube retaining ring slot), and then shortened the magazine tube, and cut a new slot for the retaining ring.  Summary… very little of the rifle is factory original.

Also, that has got to be the sloppiest magazine shortening job I’ve ever seen – looks like they cut out most of the magazine inside the forearm.
