I’m in possession of my great-grandfathers Model 1890 (asmbl 1910). It is chambered in the larger .22WRF. My issue is that when I feed 5 rounds into the magazine tube, I can’t get the spring-loaded feed rod to lock down firmly in the tube.
I’ve clean and inspected the tube. I’ve tried fewer rounds. The feed rod seats/locks with no rounds in the tube. It will cycle the rounds as long as I pump with the rifle at an upward angle, allowing gravity to position the next round… Ideas?

If you spend $150 to buy a Teslong bore scope you could look down the tube. If anyone has one to borrow I would ask them. These bore scopes are very handy. It comes with a monitor about the size of a cell phone. It can take pictures and videos which you can download to a computer.
