Hello,
I recently purchased this 1960 Featherweight in 270 as a shooter/user. I notice that it has some unique features such as:
super grade style forearm checkering
super grade style grip cap
22 LPI checkering
Winchester Pad (may have been added later LOP is 13″)
Low Comb Stock (disc. by 1960?)
I pulled the action and the inletting looks factory to me, but I’m going to compare it to another FW I have. Any insight would be appreciated…again I bought this to enjoy, because it felt good to me, not because I thought it was worth big $$$.

Hi 7x57hunter-
These images may help. They are side-by-side comparisons of a M70 low comb standard FWT stock and a M70 Super Grade FWT stock, both in near new condition:
They illustrate the checkering patterns, grip cap, swivel attachment, and fore end tip from the inside, so might be of some help comparing to your stock.

Lou, Thank you!
I compared it side by side to another featherweight. It looks entirely possible to “re-work” a standard stock to add a grip cap and recontour the grip to match. Obviously re-checkering would be required. The forend would then need to be sanded past the checkering and recheckered too.
Either way the grip, being oval and slimmer than the featherweight I compared it to, makes the standard feel like you are gripping a 2×4. I really like how this stock feels and I’m going to use it and enjoy it.
