Hi all. I’ve been perusing the upcoming auction at RI and had a question about this lot:

The letter states “smokeless” as a part of its configuration. Is this referencing the Nickel steel barrel?

Yes, and it most likely will have “W.H.V.” stamped on the underside of the barrel.

Hi Velosa I have a ’94 ser# 254621 cal. 38-55 in which the letter states, 1/2 oct. bbl., 1/2 mag., set trigger, pist. grip, checkered, smokeless steel bbl., nichol steel bbl. The tang is stamped xx and the stock assembly #,s match the recv,r but the letter does not mention special wood, which is common with deluxe guns . I haven’t looked under the bbl. for W.H.V. stamp but I will. Its the only one I,ve had that states both nichol steel and smokeless steel in two seperate lines on the letter. Henry
