I was wondering if anyone had results from slugging a bore on an 1894 in 30WCF (30-30) made 1895-1920.  I’m curious if anyone has any results from that  experience with one of their own barrels or related information.  I’m not slugging one or planning on it, just looking for data.

Thanks,

Brad

What exactly do you want to know? Generally when one “slug’s” a bore they are trying to determine the bore and grove dia.

Is that what you are asking for?

I cant comment on the 30 WCF dimensions or the manufacturing consistency.( I shoot 30 WCF the least ) But I think all the orig 1894 Cals, and 32 Special, are quite consistent bore dimensions  (making accurate re-loads  much easier for multiple guns taking the same cartridge ) except for 38-55 where bore tolerance varies excessively, and I have always wondered why this exception?

The 44 is also the only standout for excessive variance in the 1892 Line up. I dont understand why they could control most Cal bore dimensions , but not the 38-55 and and 44 ? ….Mike ?

That is an EXCELLENT question!  I have often wondered that myself relative to the .38-55.  Anyone out there have any ideas?

Yep, what was nominal and if there is much variance in 30 WCF barrels at any time.

Thanks,

Brad
