.I have recently inherited a 1892 src. Some jerk carved their initials into the stock on both sides. Too deep to sand out. Any thoughts on buying a new or original stock to replace the stock on the gun. The gun is not in great shape overall. But it would be nice to display and shoot once in a while. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello,
You might also look on Gunbroker.com and search on Winchester 1892 and then select “parts” from the left side menu. Butt stocks do show up now and then. Can I get the SN of your rifle and some photos so that I might add it into my ongoing survey of the 1892’s? https://winchestercollector.org/forum/winchester-research-survey-discussion/winchester-model-1892-all-rifle-survey/
Thanks much
Michael
