OfflineI got this in an estate buy a few day ago. I know it’s refinished at some point and that kills any collector value. My question is would be the value of such a gun. Serial dates it to 1895 which I understand should be cased receiver and parts. Wood is in nice shape as is the entire gun with the exception of the refinish aspect.

OfflineI think from the past listings, on rifles such as you’ve described, and with you’re included information, and pictures we can ask the main question as to what you have invested in this, shooter grade, refinished piece.
It’s evident on the quality, or lack of, on the re finished piece, so no need for me to go there.
You can look at the aftermarket replica shooters as a fair comparison, even though you have an original rifle manufactured in 1895, as you stated. Hopefully the bore is good and it shoots well.
Jeremy brings up a very interesting take on the barrel and it’s caliber. A Cody search can verify the original caliber.
