I have a late 1894 SRC made 1931 with all carbine features. It has the 3c style sight, is that correct?  When did they stop using the ladder sight on carbines?

Whats a 3 C sight?  My 1930 carbine has the 44-A ladder rear sight. My 1936 Transitional carbine has a 22-E rear sight. Your 1931 carbine should be a 44-A or a 3 leaf Express sight. Could be a series 22 but that is a far reach. Big Larry

When did they go from the ladder sight to a sight with an elevator?

I think they were transitioned in around 1936. They made quite a few changes around then. Sights, sling rings, stocks. Big Larry

The transition from the 44A sight to the 22-series took place in early 1932, and it was coincident with the change from Nickel Steel to Proof Steel barrels, and the ramp style front sight.  If your Carbine has the post w/pinned blade front sight, the 44A ladder sight was standard.

Got my number wrong, this gun was made in 1927 and has the 22 sight and 3C elevator. The barrel dovetail is cut 1″ farther forward than my other 1894 carbines, apparently for the longer sight.

Which M22 sight does it have? There are a bunch of them. Could be a M22-E as that is the year date on most I have seen. Is the adjusting screw on the front or the bottom of the sight? Big Larry

The screw for the insert is on the rear face of the sight.

More than likely it is a 22H. Big Larry
