I need to sell a few of dads old guns, he has always enjoyed them and said they were an investment. But Its time to sell a few, but not all. First I’m going to get rid of the common model 12s, Browning a5s, 1100, etc. but I’m not sure what to do about the older lever actions. I’ll probably keep a few, at least for now, but not sure if one is better to keep than another.
ive promised one 73 to my cousin, it was probably the one I should keep, but he’s been fond of it for years. Here are two that are left.
the one on top has a set trigger, but the wood is poor. The one on the bottom is in better shape, but missing a screw and dust cover.

Looks like typical bluing wear to me–no reason at all to think refinished.
I’m thinking about stripping the shiny wood finish off and going back with something like linseed oil. I’m thinking this would look better and since it’s already been refinished it’s not going to hurt it.

Here is a previous thread about these guns.Bob
I’d forgotten about that. But dads going to assisted living in a few months so I’ll be either selling some, or buying some.

Here is a 92 that I will probably keep. But it’s obviously had the wood refinished. What’s going on with the metal? Is this original, or has this also been refinished?
To me, that receiver looks like it was buffed on/cleaned long ago with the screws still in it. The screw heads look flattened as a result.
Don
I agree that its has been buffed and refinished.
