Howdy all. Honestly, I’m not even a long-gun guy, but I do have a soft spot for vintage firearms. I have an opportunity to buy two pre-64 model 94s. One is a 1949, and the other is a 1951. The ’51 receiver has quite a bit of surface rust, and the wood is not in quite as a nice shape. The 49 is in beautiful shape, with a caveat. The rear sight has been cut off and there is a Williams adjustable site on the receiver. Does the removal of the rear sight ruin the value of the rifle? It is otherwise in beautiful condition. Serial number lookup confirms the year of build on both.

Dave,

The missing rear sight and the two extra holes drilled & tapped in the receiver frame to mount the Willaims sight significantly detract from the collector value.

What are the serial numbers on both guns?  I will assume that both are chambered for the 30 W.C.F. ?
