I have a 1927 Model 94 Carbine with a s/n close to 1,000,000. It was found by a family friend on a hunting trip in Alaska.

I am in the process of restoring it and looking for an official reference of available factory configurations for 1927 Model 94’s.

I have seen pictures of them with blued receivers, some with silver, etc. Base on how it is cleaning up it appears as if it was a silver configuration with maybe a blued barrel and magazine tube??

Thanks in advance for any pointers

What is the actual serial number?  With it, I can pin down the date of manufactured to the specific month & year.

All of the Model 94s were manufactured with a blued receiver frame.  The Model 94s manufactured in the 1920s and 1930s were very prone to rapid wear of the bluing through typical use and handling, resulting in a gray/silver (bare steel) appearance.

The serial number is 998275 which I believe puts in 1927.

I just finished putting it back together after a complete tear down and significant rust and grime removal. The action was completely frozen and I was told it was too far gone. Well she’s cleaned up and mechanically functioning again.

January 1927.  Which caliber is it?  Is it a Carbine (20-inch barrel), or a Rifle?

It’s a carbine with a 20” barrel and the saddle ring.  Thank you for the information and your help.
