Hello Fellow Collectors.
I am about to purchase a 57 (great year for rifles lol) Pre 64 Win Model 70 from an online dealer. The gun is suppose to be in mint condition. However, from the pictures the color of the stock looks a little more brown than the more common color I see on Pre 64 stocks. The dealer assures me it is all original. I have a 3 day inspection period and was wondering if someone could tell me if there is a way to determine in the stock has been refinished without disassembling the rifle. I have been looking for a well preserved original Pre 64 Model 70 to add to my deer rifle collection. Forgive me if there are already topics on this inquiry. If so please direct me to them. I couldn’t locate any using the search feature. Thank you.
