Hello everyone!

I was wondering if I could get some help identifying this Winchester 52 and it’s value. I used this rifle to competition shoot in scheutzen style shooting about 10 years ago which is when I bought it. The owner said something about it being custom made for the Olympics in the 1960’s. I am having a hard time finding other Winchester 52’s that look like mine.

The model number is 86681C.

Any help on identifying exactly what this is and what it is worth would be much appreciated!

Best Regards,

Dan

Pictures would REALLY help!

Marine Corps Jim Hill (Semper Fi!) won the silver in the 50 meter prone in (Rome) 1960 and I think he was famous as a writer as well.  If memory serves he was using a Winchester 52 at the time but Seewin would know much more than I about that.

Having said that, the most famous of the 60’s Olympic shooters was Lones Wigger, 50 meter prone and beyond ;-).  Lones was a multiple gold medal winner and member of the Olympic team in 64, 68 and 72.  I think he even made the 1980 team but not sure.  He formerly ran the U.S. Sniper Team school in the 1970’s during Vietnam and was one of the more “famous” Army guys.  I was just reading about him when researching my Van Orden rifle.  I don’t know if he used a 52 but would not have been surprised if he did.  He was cerrtainly a traditionalist.

We can help with posting your pics since you are a guest, I would love to see your rifle!
